Many French borrowings have troublesome pronunciations, because most English speakers can't speak French very well, if at all. However, we are comfortable with many anglicized French words as we know such objects or elements only in French first like ‘Déjà vu’. However words like ‘Crepe’ that are familiar gets a beating while you speak French because the ‘R’ sound in English and French is way different.
French has é, è , and ê out of which è and ê are almost the same. My internship boss told me that we don’t know why we have è and ê as they are same.
Yesterday, I was invited to a Christmas lunch and it took 3 times for one of the French guys to understand my American English way of saying ‘Crepe’. So that’s how it is when I try to speak French :P
Most of the French words have extra letters that they don’t pronounce. God knows why. But as they say in French ‘c'est comme ça!’ -‘Its like that’ . All said and done, French is the Romantic language and except for the pronunciation, I like every bit of learning the French.
Allez! Bon courage :)
